{"id":337,"date":"2024-12-30T22:31:10","date_gmt":"2024-12-30T22:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lavesta.org\/staging\/?p=337"},"modified":"2025-03-01T18:55:17","modified_gmt":"2025-03-01T18:55:17","slug":"december-lavesta-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lavesta.org\/staging\/2024\/12\/30\/december-lavesta-update\/","title":{"rendered":"December News"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Latest news 12\/28\/2024&#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Written by Ermanno Strepparola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Thank you<\/strong>&nbsp;Anoterry, Christina, Ted, Chris and Anonymous for your generous donations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also Big Thanks to Rancho Cacachilas for letting us use the new Palapa at the Bike Portal for the rescue team training, and for letting us store our rescue team gear there, for 24\/7 access!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now on some different update&#8230; as you might know, last year LaVESTA collaborated with IMPLAN in the work for the Urban Development Plan (PDU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This accomplished two things<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Getting the trails on the PDU maps<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A lot of the land on which the trails are built (not all), was zoned in such a way that at most only &#8220;glamping&#8221; could occur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It did NOT change the possibility of the land being sold to a private and fenced off however.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A couple weeks ago, thanks to the Secretary Rodrigo Lucero, I was invited to talk to the Ejido Assembly, to introduce the idea of creating a park in the ejido &#8220;common use land&#8221; where our trails are located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be invited to work with the Eijdo to try and preserve land together is huge and we thank them for this great opportunity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I gave a short but well received speech, and LaVESTA will follow up in the new year with a more developed plan that is in the making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was amazing, right after the meeting, to have a couple of folks come up and tell me that they were related to kids that participated in our classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The making of a more official plan will require navigating of a lot of different moving pieces and LaVESTA is bringing onboard conservation specialists that have successfully worked with Ejidos to protect land in other areas. This is a long process that LaVESTA is passionate about and working hard towards. We&#8217;ll keep you posted on progress and we continue to ask for your trust and donations to help us reach our goals of protecting trail access for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a1<strong>Gracias<\/strong>&nbsp;a Anoterry, Christina, Ted, Chris y Anonymous por sus generosas donaciones!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tambi\u00e9n muchas gracias a Rancho Cacachilas por permitirnos usar la nueva Palapa en el Bike Portal para el entrenamiento del equipo de rescate, y por permitirnos guardar nuestro equipo de rescate all\u00ed, \u00a1para tener acceso las 24 horas, los 7 d\u00edas de la semana!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahora, una actualizaci\u00f3n diferente&#8230; como ya sabr\u00e1n, el a\u00f1o pasado LaVESTA colabor\u00f3 \u200b\u200bcon IMPLAN en el trabajo para el Plan de Desarrollo Urbano (PDU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esto logr\u00f3 dos cosas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; poner los senderos en los mapas del PDU<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; gran parte del terreno en el que hay senderos (no todo), fue zonificado de tal manera que, como m\u00e1ximo, solo se pod\u00eda hacer &#8220;glamping&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sin embargo, NO cambi\u00f3 la posibilidad de que el terreno se vendiera a un particular y se cercara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hace un par de semanas, gracias al Secretario Rodrigo Lucero, me invitaron a hablar ante la Asamblea Ejidal para presentar la idea de crear un parque en la<br>&#8220;tierra de uso com\u00fan&#8221; de l&#8217;ejido donde se encuentran nuestros senderos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a1Que me hayan invitado a trabajar con el Ejido para intentar preservar la tierra juntos es enorme y les agradecemos por esta gran oportunidad!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Di un discurso breve pero bien recibido, y LaVESTA seguir\u00e1 el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o con un plan m\u00e1s desarrollado que est\u00e1 en proceso de elaboraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fue incre\u00edble, justo despu\u00e9s de la reuni\u00f3n, que un par de personas se acercaran y me dijeran que eran parientes de ni\u00f1os que participaron en nuestras clases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La elaboraci\u00f3n de un plan m\u00e1s oficial requerir\u00e1 navegar por muchas piezas m\u00f3viles diferentes y LaVESTA est\u00e1 incorporando a especialistas en conservaci\u00f3n que han trabajado con \u00e9xito con los ejidos para proteger la tierra en otras \u00e1reas. Este es un proceso largo que apasiona a LaVESTA y por el que trabajaremos arduamente.
