IT’S OFFICIAL: THE EJIDO PARK IS A REALITY!
LaVESTA family, this is the moment we’ve all been working toward!
After three years of negotiations, planning, and your unwavering support, we are beyond thrilled to announce that the Ejido Park in the hills of El Sargento is officially a reality! This is a monumental win for the land, the community, and every single person who has ever paused at the 550m Alta Vista summit to soak in those incredible views of the bay.
A Ejido Legacy for the Future
The Ejido of El Sargento and La Ventana listened to our vision and chose a path of conservation. By protecting 200 hectares of the best hiking and biking terrain in Baja, they have created a legacy that will define our community for the next 20 years and beyond. No development—just trails, nature, and community.
What this means:
Through this historic 20-year conservation easement (servidumbre) entered by the Ejido, 200 hectares of the best hiking and biking terrain in Baja will be protected. This land is now officially set aside for sustainable recreation.
Now, the real work begins – and we need you!
The park is free for everyone to enjoy, but its long-term success relies on us. To honor the Ejido’s decision to protect this land rather than sell it for development, LaVESTA provides an annual monetary incentive to the community.
We’ve secured the land; now we must sustain it. To meet our commitment and keep our trails in world-class shape, we need to do our part.
If you’ve enjoyed these trails over the last few years, please consider donating to our fundraising efforts today:
- The “Easy Win”: Set up a recurring or one-time donation via Wise (our favorite for low fees!) or PayPal/Trailforks.
- The “Conservation Hero”: If you are donating $500 or more, please contact us at donate@lavesta.org. We will provide details for our ICF Restricted Fund.
- Leave a Legacy: To discuss legacy gifts or alternative ways to give, visit our Donate Page.
Every dollar stays right here in these hills. This project is a blueprint and a base foundation for local conservation in a place where every day more and more access is taken away. Let’s show everyone that a community of hikers and riders can protect the places they love.
